?????

Nothing too new going on lately. I got a new haircut, that isn't all that different from my old one. At least I can see out from under my bangs now. The boohoos are still here, maybe not as often though.

Darling youngest granddaughter is still missing grandpa and grandma...a lot! I get emails from DD every day with little love messages from Ashley. I hope they get to come for a visit soon. It has been a whole week since I have seen the little ones but it feels like a month!

Just caught darling Oreo using the ottoman for a scratching post! BAD KITTY! She used to not do things like that. So far I don't see any damage...yet!

I may post again later today if I think of something worth saying. Otherwise, I mostly just wanted to say that I am still here; hanging in and trying to move on.

Speaking?

I realized tonight that I take the ability to speak for granted. Today I had this little polyp thingy removed from my tongue. No big deal really. But now, I am having a little trouble talking because it hurts. So, how do you talk without using your tongue? I can't and I keep biting it. So, I try to keep my teeth clenched to keep from biting it, but then I sound weird; kind of a lisping sound and that makes me laugh...which makes my tongue hurt! LOL!

Tonight I did an amazing thing...for me anyway. I cooked a second homemade meal in just three days! DH doesn't know what to say; he isn't used to it that's for sure. I made macaroni and cheese from scratch. It was good, too. And, there are leftovers so I don't have to cook tomorrow, tee hee.

Talked to DD tonight and it sounds like my little granddaughter REALLY wants to come for a visit. She keeps talking to her mommy about coming to the farm NOW. And she wants to help Granpa wake up the cows. Too cute! I miss her as much as she misses us, too.

Our hairy babies are finally getting used to us being home again. Little miss Oreo has stopped her constant complaining. I will post a photo of her probably at the beginning of this post since I still can't figure out how to put them at the end or in the middle. Our other baby is PeeWee; whose name doesn't fit her at all. She was little when we brought her in but now she is a horse. As she gets older, she gets moodier. On a positive note though, she had a bad eye that the vet was sure was herpes and now it is clear. Sorry, couldn't find a photo of PeeWee tonight but here is Oreo at least.

DH's favorite show is on tonight. He loves The Medium with Patricia Arquette. I am so glad they brought it back as he really missed it. Okay, now I am just rambling so I know it is time to go. God bless all!

SNOW!

Well, welcome home to us! We got about 5 inches of snow today, but it was blowing and looked like more to me. I was stuck in the house all day, boo hoo! LOL

DD has been emailing me with some darling things my adorable granddaughter has been saying. Apparently she didn't realize we were leaving for real when we said goodbye and she got very upset. I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry when DD sent the email. Today she "called" me on her pretend phone. DD said it was so cute! I really miss them and and I just saw them yesterday.

Today I spent time cleaning and polishing my shells that I brought home from Gulf Shores. It doesn't work on all of them, but baby oil brings out the color in many of them. I read about it online today. I really would like to display these shells in jars or vases so I want them to look good.

There really is cause for celebration tonight. I didn't have even one weepy episode today, not ONE! I know that doesn't mean they are gone necessarily, but it was cool to suddenly realize it this evening. Wonder why? I guess it doesn't matter why, I am just glad.

Home

Well, we are home after a week of warm weather. What a shock to the system when I got out of my car! It is COLD here and supposed to snow tonight. I want my beaches and sun back!

We had a lovely visit with DD and her family yesterday. I wish we all lived closer so we could spend more time together. Can I get mushy for a moment? Too late, I am anyway! LOL. DD, you have made me so proud of your skills as a parent. I love to watch you with your children and see the love they have for you.

For some reason, I am still having emotional swings and lots of tears!! This is getting really frustrating!!! I tear up for no reason and feel as though I could just sit down and bawl for hours. I DON'T like this!! I am usually such a happy person and the last few months are not ME! Fortunately, I made it through vacation without any major meltdowns. The walks on the beach were really good for me and helped my mood. Too bad it isn't warm enough here yet for long walks, (not for me anyway!).

We arrived home this morning to a coldish house. DH had the furnace set low while we were gone and it is still warming up. Believe it or not, I got myself moving and made a pot of soup. I think it helped me to warm up mentally as well as having the house feel warmer.

I am going to try working in my craft room this weekend. It sure would be nice to get it into a state where I can actually work. I have so much I would like to do and too many reasons not to do it. That would be one less excuse!

Still in Gulf Shores

We decided to spend another night in Gulf Shores so here I am blogging another day. Today we went to the National Naval Aviation Museum. It was so cool! First we took in an IMAX movie titled "The Magic of Flight". It was mostly about the Blue Angels who are based in Pensacola. You have never "flown" until you ridden with the Blue Angels via IMAX. Wow!!!! After the movie we went on a tour of the "flight line", (where they park all the planes), via a tram. The driver was very knowledgable about all the planes and a pretty good comedian to boot. Being on a naval air station brought back a lot of memories for DH and I! Photos at the top of the post as usual.

This evening we went to visit our Wisconsin neighbors who winter down here. They have a really nice two bedroom unit about 13 miles from here. The two of them were kind enough to take us out to dinner at a cute little Mexican restaurant near their place. I think we might consider trying this out as an option when DH retires.

In the morning we are heading home. We're planning on taking two to two and a half days to travel, no more rushing to get "there". (Besides, who wants to hurry to get home anyway?) I will miss the beach and looking for shells, but I won't miss how tired and sore I am from walking in the sand. I know, I know...it is such good exercise! But when you haven't exercised in a while, wow, you really feel it!

The photos are all from the museum. One of the photos is the actual plane former President George W. Bush was in when he landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln. This museum has it all! The RVAW 120 patch is from the squadron DH and I were both part of when me met; so romantic to see it again after all this time.

Hopefully we will stay somewhere tomorrow night so I can post and let you know how our day went.

I am SO rude!

I didn't even mention that yesterday was DH's birthday. Shame on me! I felt kind of bad that we really didn't celebrate much. His gift was the tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and he loved that so I guess it is okay. Yesterday we walked the beach and looked for sea shells...FUN! Most of the ones here are pretty ordinary and the cool ones are almost always broken, but we did find a couple of goodies; two sand dollars and a little horn shaped shell and none of them broken!

I wanted to get up early in the morning and search for more shells before the crowd is out, but I am having really bad indigestion for the third night in a row and I can't sleep.

We were originally scheduled to go on to Panama City tomorrow and stay two nights, but DH wasn't sure why we had to stay that long. So, I decided we'd just not go at all since we have the beach here and have spent a fair amount of time walking on it. Tomorrow we are going to Pensacola Naval Air Station. They have a Navy Aviation Museum that we can't wait to see. We actually went today but got there about a half-hour before they closed. I am not sure whether we will stay another night here in Gulf Shores or start for home early. It really is up to DH I guess.

This place is amazing! There are HUGE hotels all along the beach, interspersed with these really beautiful beach houses. The houses look like candy, all done up in gorgeous pastels and even some gingerbread trim. So far my shots of the them haven't turned out that well, but I wish you all could see them.

I haven't taken photos in so long that I think my skills are very rusty; that and I am having trouble getting used to the newer camera. I did get an incredible photo of DH on the beach but I don't know how I did it. I will post it tonight. Of course, for some reason, my photos end up at the beginning of the post, so you will already have seen it! LOL!

I'll let you know tomorrow what we end up deciding!

More Photos

Promised Photos

Okay, I'm having trouble sleeping tonight, so I will post a couple of photos from the Opry last night. Just remember that, although they aren't great photos, they are mine and if you repost them somewhere else I ask that you give me credit. Now, business out the way here a few!

Well, here will be a few when I figure out what I am doing wrong. Hmmm...I am not sure why I can't post them here. It should be easy. Done, but the labels didn't print. Oh well, enjoy and I will add another post with a few other shots.

Wow!!!

The Grand Ole Opry was everything we hoped it would be and we had a wonderful Valentine's Day. We started out shopping for shoes, (of course I forgot the ones I needed for tonight). Then we went to a couple of museums and ended up having lunch at a little family diner called Rudi's. The name stems from RU for Russ, DI for Diane and the S is for their son James, (slave labor, I know the S has nothing to do with his name). We were the only customers for most of the time we were there and Diane took their stage with a gentleman whose name is Leon Rhodes. He actually played at the Grand Ole Opry tonight with the Whites. Speaking of the Whites (two sisters), I would bet my favorite anything that they were sitting a the table next to us last night at Shoney's. I didn't know who they were then and I nearly fainted when they took the stage.

We saw: Darryl Worley, he is so tall, 6ft 5 inches, wow! Kathey Mattea was wonderful, but Ray Stevens took the cake. He was so funny and so was Mike Snider. We laughed the whole time. Kathy Mattea sang "Where Have You Been" and brought the house to tears. It was so beautiful!

Tomorrow I will post some photos and tell more about the show. I thought I could do it all tonight, but I find I am way too tired. I just wanted to say how much fun we had and wish you all could have been there!

We Made It!

Whew, what a long day of driving we had. We left home at 6:30 this morning and arrived in Nashville about 5:30 this afternoon. Had a little trouble finding the hotel, but hey, we're here! We went to Shoney's for supper and I ate too much. I really try not to do that, but they had fish and hush puppies! Needless to say, I am suffering a little tonight. Can't sleep yet cause my tummy's upset.

I was horrified by all the damage from the recent ice storm in Kentucky and Tennesee. There were tree branches down everywhere you looked along the highway. Some of the cedars, (I think), were bent over in an obvious reaction to an ice overload. It was really sad! On another note, we also saw a ton of dead coyotes. Weird! At home roadkill is mostly deer or racoons. Here we saw coyotes and lots of little dead animals that I couldn't always identify, except for the occasional skunk!

Our hotel room is average. The pillows are hard and flat; I brought my own, but I still can't get comfy. I am really spoiled by my Craftmatic adjustable bed at home. It sounds silly, but they really are great. The mattresses are perfect and you can have the head of the bed up just right. DH likes his feet up but it just looks uncomfortable to me. LOL.

We are going to try to find something to do during the day tomorrow. Maybe a visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame or something similar. DH loves to explore new places. Our hotel is on the edge of Nashville and the Ryman theater is downtown so we have about a 15 minute drive tomorrow evening to get to our show. I'll post again tomorrow night to dish on the show and maybe even add a few photos!

Gonna try to sleep now.

What does it take?

What does it take to get rid of this crazy virus? It has been two weeks and my head is still giving me problems. I finally went to the doctor today to make sure my "weird" feeling in my head was just the virus. Of course, it is...what else? So, back on the decongestants, etc. The doc was really nice and said it was a good thing I am not flying out at least. LOL! I have flown with head colds before, not pleasant!

I think the "weepies" are a part of the medication change and have already improved somewhat. I still tear up, but at least I'm not sobbing over every little thing now. The virus has certainly not helped things move along any quicker. But we leave for Nashville in just three days!

It is really neat to see DH get so excited about this trip. He needs a little excitement! We keep checking out our seat location and marveling that we got such good ones! If I read the site correctly for the Opry, I can take pictures! Most concerts, etc won't even let you bring your camera into the venue. I once received tickets to a John Denver concert as a gift and they nearly took my camera away because it looked like a "professional's" to them. It was a nice camera, but I only wanted a couple of shots for myself and I wasn't going to use the flash or anything. I talked them out of it but, what a mess!

With the depression, I haven't been taking photos with my usual frequency. I haven't even pulled it out the last couple of times the grandbabies have been here. Now, that really is strange! My camera is usually attached in an almost permanent way when they visit. I now can't wait to start snapping again!

Tomorrow, I HAVE to get serious about packing! I did get a list done, because I will forget something if I don't make one. Now, if I just remember to print it out and use it!

Okay, time to stop rambling for tonight! I will post along the way on the trip!

Feeling Old!

Yesterday my baby turned 29! How the years fly. Just a few days ago it seems he was this adorable little boy playing peek-a-boo with us and now he is married and being responsible. I am so proud of him, and my others, for growing into such a neat young person. But, I still miss those little faces and sweet, sweet smiles. Oh, gotta stop! I'll have myself in tears if I don't. LOL (sort of anyway)
My youngest granddaughter called me today, with help from her mommy, to ask me to send her a letter. A little boy on one of her cartoons got a letter and she wants one too! She is too cute, I wish I could see her more often. At least I get to talk to her almost every day. So, I am glad I got Valentine's cards made for all four of them today. I created a disaster in the craft room but I finished them in one sitting. There is glitter everywhere, I even found some on my DH after I hugged him! Now I just have to mail them, along with some candy I bought each of them.

One week from today we leave for Nashville! I know I keep going on about it, but I really am excited. DH is too!

Keeping it short tonight!

Misery!

Heaven help me! DH gave me his cold and I am miserable. It is a full blown, sniffling, sneezing, coughing, blowing mess! I haven't had one of these for a while, (thank God). DH has caught another little bug, so we stayed home today instead of going to DS the younger's in-laws for Super Bowl fun.

So, here we sit, all alone, sneezing together and moaning over all of the Cardinal's mistakes. I would really love to see them win, but I have to be realistic; oh, but wouldn't it be something to see them take down the mighty Steelers? Okay, I am really softie a heart and I always root for the underdog, well, unless my favorite team is the favorite. Go Pack! LOL.

I may have to leave the house tomorrow for more tissues, LOL! I have gone through almost an entire box! It would be good to get out, but I don't want to spread the bug either. I wonder if those lotion tissues really are nicer to your nose? Mine is sore from all the blowing.

Woohoo! Arizona just scored a TD!!!!! That puts them within 6 of the Steelers! Do ya think, just maybe, they can pull it off? Come on Cardinals!!!

Sorry, I got just a little carried away, (tee hee). I do love the Superbowl commercials. There are some pretty good ones, especially Budweiser's. The horses are just too cute! The Pepsi commercial imitating McGuyver stinks, though.

Tonight really is ramblings, isn't it? I have spent a lot of time on my laptop the last couple of days just surfing stamping sites. In case I haven't mentioned it, my favorite is splitcoaststampers.com. For some reason the link didn't activate, sorry. They have some wonderful ideas, techniques, and groups. II belong to a couple of their groups and they really brighten my day! (Bless me! Twice!) There is a support group for people with clinical depression and it has been a blessing. The poster there understand what I have been going through and have great suggestions.

Okay, gonna stop now and take care of my poor nose. God Bless, y'all!
